**This show will be a single cast**
Everyone
is encouraged to audition—even if you’ve never been in a show! The musical is a
great way to make new friends and learn music and acting skills as well.
Everyone who auditions will have a part. Students in grades 5-8 can audition
for a lead (named part). Students in K-4 will primarily be cast in an
Ensemble/Chorus. Seussical will not be double-cast, so all performers will be in
all three shows.
Students
auditioning for a lead should prepare a selection from a Broadway musical or a Disney
song.
Pop songs are discouraged. K-4 students
(and those who prefer a smaller role) may sing any piece of music one minute in
length (like Happy Birthday or Twinkle Twinkle Little Star). You MUST
bring sheet music if you need accompaniment (we will have an accompanist
available).
The
Holy Cross spring musical is a fun and exciting experience, but it will also be
hard work that requires time, dedication and persistence. Every person in the
cast, even our youngest participant, is important and must be present at their
required rehearsals. Rehearsals will be
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6pm, with occasional Saturdays, until closer
to performances. Please review any extracurricular commitments prior to
auditions. Cast members may only rehearse once per week. Not every cast
member will attend every rehearsal. We are able to work with most activities.
I’m very honored and excited to be a part of this
production and to work with your children. Please contact me with any questions
or concerns. If you are new to the school, new to the musical, or your child is
”on the fence,” I will be available to talk after the PTC meeting on January 15th
at 7pm.
